Alliance Events to Commemorate the 21st Anniversary of
June 4
2010 marks the 21st anniversary of the June 4 incident, and 2011 will be the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution. The road to democracy in China is rugged, winding and long. The more we persist in pressing onward, the closer we are to the goals of vindicating June 4 and building a democratic China.
For the 21st anniversary, Hong Kong Alliance has decided on the following themes: “Remember June 4, Pass on the Flame”; “Vindicate June 4, Persist to the end”, “Oppose Political Persecution, Protest Political Suppression” and “Release Liu Xiaobo, Support Charter 08”.
We call on all who are concerned about democratic development and human rights in China to stand firm in the struggle to rectify the official verdict on June 4 and strive to fulfill the goals of the June 4 martyrs of democracy. We particularly encourage young people to join our ranks in the struggle for democracy. Together we will work towards building a prosperous new China that reveres human rights, respects the rule of law and embodies justice.
The Alliance is launching a series of events to commemorate the 21st anniversary of June 4. Highlights include a patriotic pro-democracy march on May 30 and a candlelight vigil on June 4.
In this section are details of the events planned to commemorate the 21st anniversary of June 4th. For such a massive initiative, many volunteers are needed to ensure that events run smoothly.
