The Herald Sealed for a Second Time

"The Municipal Committee has Violated the Law!"

The former editor-in-chief of People's Daily, Hu Jiwei, considered the actions taken by the Shanghai Municipal Committee as violation of the Constitution as well as the separation of Party and state. The primary reason was that the World Economic Herald was not a Party-affiliated newspaper.

The Economic Herald is sealed up for a second time, for printing a statement by the Chinese Association of World Economics condemning the Shanghai Municipal Committee's decision to remove Qin Benli from office as not conforming to the law. Several Shanghai lawyers formed a legal group and were prepared to bring charges against the Party secretary for attacking the Herald.
