"We Don’t Want Fake Harmony"

 

Thousands of students from more than 10 Beijing colleges ride their bicycles in a demonstration in Beijing, demanding freedom of the press. This was the largest demonstration of the week in Beijing. They shouted "The media should tell the truth" and distribute leaflets along the way. The students stopped at various media agency including Central People's Radio Station, Xinhua News Agency, Propaganda Department and the People's Daily.
 
More than a hundred Beijing writers staged two-hour demonstration, carrying a banner reading "Chinese writers, the conscience of the nation". Each of the writers present wears a white T-shirt reading, on the back, "poets, the voice of freedom" with a large character meaning "human".The writers' procession started at the West-Straight Gate of the city and moved through TIananmen Square, along with the students' procession.
