A Fake Demonstration

"10 yuan for a protester!"

Reports indicated that several thousands peasants, cadres, students and local residents in the Beijing rural areas held a rally supporting Li Peng. The group shouted "Down with Fang Lizhi" and claimed that Fang Lizhi was a conspirator.

The chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, Wan Li, arrived in Beijing.

At night, several thousands students and workers protested in front of the Public Security Bureau because of the arrest of the 3 union leaders. Protesters later learnt that the three had been released at about 5pm after 2 days of interrogation. The group later protested for the release of the eleven members of the "Flying Tiger Squad".
