On the morning of June 4, Xia was leaving the Square together with other students who had stayed till the very last. When they reach Dongdan, Xia dropped to the ground and said, " Quick, find somewhere to rest. I think I was shot." She was covering her chest with her hand, and blood was gushing out between her fingers. Some female students removed her shirt and discovered that she was shot beneath her left breast and blood was still pouring out. There was such confusion at the time; if only we had sent her to hospital in time then maybe she would have lived. But apart from carrying the passed out Xia forward, we were at a loss at what to do. After a few minutes, Xia woke from her coma, and saw that we were all looking at her with grief. A heartbreaking smile came to her bleached face, "My classmates! Don't look at me like that. Xia Zhilei (The name means the blossom of summer) has always been the blossom of summer. My flowering season has come to an end, please don't be sad!" And just like that, she unwillingly left this world that she loved so. |
