Introduction:
Since the March of 2003, when both Mr. Hu Jintao and Mr. Wen Jiabao became the highest officials of the Chinese government, they emphasized to create a harmonic and stable society. However, the power of the government is monopolized and the legal protection of freedom, democracy and human right are still lacking. Though the economy is increasing rapidly, the serious problems of corruption, the illegal private business activities between the government and merchants, the large gap between the rich and poor and the prohibition of the freedom on news reporting and free speech are existing. The monopoly of the political regime endangers the society and the problems are obviously worst than the time during the1989.
Our lectures will discuss the current management ideas of the Chinese government leaders along with their regimes and the effect of all these may encourage the future democracy of China. The speakers will also analysis the Chinese sociological movement with the freedom of human rights movement and their effect of these contradictory movements towards the governance of China. They will also discuss the influences of the presidential election of Taiwan on the China-Taiwan relationship and the development of Hong Kong, etc. We sincerely hope the participants can make use of the lectures to understand the Chinese government better and to discuss the development of the democracy in China together.
